Body Angel Activewear: My Traveling Pants

Look awesome in a sea of black leggings with these Body Angel Activewear Half Moon pants

Today’s post is from Brooke Siler, a member of the ActivewearUSA.com Advisory Counsel.

Fresh out of the package, my Body Angel pants received “oohs” and “aahs” for their awesome tie-dye splashes on the belly and cuffs. But then I put them on for a test run and saw their true magic … thinner thighs through the art of trump l’oeil! A wider cuff not only makes my inner hippie happy, but narrows the look of my thighs. I’m not sure there is a better combination effect that us hip-py babes could ask for. Continue reading

Mommy Exercises: Three Positive Aspects to a Post Partum Workout

The Betty tee from Born Fit is a stylish top for post-natal workouts that get your body back

Carrying that baby (or babies) at the end of your pregnancy was a workout.  Delivering that baby (or babies) was a workout.  Now that you’re feeling better and have completed your follow-up exam with your doctor, it’s time for your post-natal workout.

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists says you can begin exercising when you feel your body is up to the challenge.  That time will vary for each woman depending on her type of delivery and what your doctor deems appropriate. But trust us on this, you will want to exercise even when you don’t want to exercise.  Exercise will restore your muscle strength, increase your energy level, and improve your mood.  There are other benefits to post-natal exercise that make these new workouts completely different from your pre-baby trips to the treadmill.  Here are a few to get you motivated. Better Bodies With the Barre Method

Try this Doce Vida Fitness Buzios Ballet top for your next (or first) Barre class!

They possess long, graceful bodies that have never tripped on a treadmill or struggled with a chest press machine.  (Not that any of us have done that, either.  Twice.) Ballerinas move smoothly and amaze us with their toned legs and tight tushes.  So we dream of attaining a ballet dancer’s body and rush the barre–the ballet barre, that is.

Ballet-inspired workouts have amassed a following who swear by the classes.  The low-impact fitness regimen incorporates high repetitions of small, intense movements with isometric holds and stretching, all with the goal of creating a toned, lean body.  The workouts are often broken into segments where each muscle group is worked to fatigue before moving on to the next group.  Classes include work at a ballet barre and often integrate props like small balls, light weights, or straps. From Gym to Cocktails in 60 Minutes

Get your sweat on and still look great as you head out for fun!

Getting a good sweat on during a hard, endorphin-rushing workout is great.  But if you need to be gliding into a cocktail party one hour after your last crunch, it’s going to take some effort.  Here’s our guide to get from flushed to glowing in only 60 minutes.

:00 – :05

Head to the locker room and chug water to help cool down your body and flush your skin.  You’ll look radiant by the time you reach your party destination.

:05 – :15

Run into the shower and quickly shampoo, condition, and soap up.  Use your razor where you need it, especially if you’re wearing a little black dress.  Keep the shower on the cooler side to help drop your core body temperature.

:15 – :25

Towel off and apply tinted moisturizer to your face and regular moisturizer to your body. This will help give you that dewy, fresh look and give your body even more time to cool down.  Comb out your hair and get your hair and makeup supplies ready.  Stay wrapped in the towel to again help your body cool off a little more.  The flush should almost be gone now.

:25 – :35

Let the moisturizer sink into your skin and work on your hair instead.  A little extra toweling to get moisture out is a good idea before you add product and grab the blow dryer.  Go for a simple ‘do; think soft waves or, if your hair is really thick, get it mostly dry and then go for a loose knot at the nape of the neck. The slightly damp hair will make it easier to style.

:35 – :45

The moisturizer has set in and will give you a little bit of a base.  Your sweaty workout flush should now be down to a delicate glow.  Play with that by keeping the face light, perhaps adding a little powder or bronzer, and a little blush on the cheeks to highlight them.  Focus your time on the lips and eyes for the most dramatic effect.  Make sure those eyebrows are perfect and use mascara that really makes your eyes shine.

:45 – :55

Your LBD and platform pumps only take a moment to slip on.  Add some bangles, a dangly necklace or earrings, and a statement ring, and you’re ready to head out the door!

:55 – 1:00

One last check of makeup, hair, and the dress, but you already know you look fabulous. Glide out to the health club lobby to meet your guy and impress the front desk staff before you head out for the evening.  You’ll be the envy of all.

Hot Couples! Do they workout together?

Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine sashayed down the Grammys’ red carpet last night with Anne V, his supermodel girlfriend, on his arm. He was his usual dashing self with perfectly coifed hair and a tailored suit; she wore a daring dress with a slit that would certainly reveal all if even a gentle breeze wafted by. Clearly Adam and Anne work out, a lot!

Jay-Z and Beyonce, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel; they’re all hot couples who look amazing. We at ActivewearUSA.com wonder if they workout together? Certainly each has private gyms in their homes, so at least every once in a while they probably sweat together, right? Continue reading

Excuses, Excuses

There are no excuses

Top 10 Reasons Why You Didn’t Make It to the Gym Today:

10. I forgot my water bottle at home.

9. My favorite pair of yoga pants is at the bottom of the dirty clothes pile.

8. I felt a strange tweak in my back when I got out of bed. I probably shouldn’t push it.

7. I was gonna go, but by the time I finished answering all my emails, I wouldn’t have been able to get a full workout in.

6. The regular class instructor told us she was going to be on vacation this week.

5. Cause Roger, the guy who works behind the front desk? He broke up with me. I know! Right before Valentine’s Day! Anyway, I think I need to find a new gym to join.

4. I shouldn’t have had pasta for lunch. I feel bloated.

3. It’s still too crowded with all the New Year’s people. I’ll head back in March.

2. I went two days ago. It’s okay if I skip it today.

1. I did my workout at home / outside / somewhere other than a gym.

Only one of these 10 is a reasonable excuse. What are some of the one’s you’ve used in the past? And will NEVER use again, right?
