I started practicing yoga in 2002 after I had gone through tremendous stress dealing with a separation. A friend of mine suggested I try yoga as a way to calm my nerves and take my focus off of my current stress. Much to my surprise, I was hooked from the very first class. Yoga offered a fun, challenging environment... it was exactly the perfect start for me into a beautiful new chapter of my life. Yoga sends the message of striving to be a better person and this really resonated with me. But in truth I was really there for the butt kicking workout that I received. I don't think I had ever sweated so much in an hour and half... and walked away feeling liberated and steady in my life. For the next few years, all I did was take yoga classes.
Then one day, I went to an Anusara class and knew there was something different the moment the class started. The physical challenge of the practice took a back seat to the spiritual benefit I was receiving inside, and my practice shifted dramatically! I saw how wonderfully rewarding helping people with Anusara Yoga could be, and realized this is what I was meant to do. In the fall of 2008 I started my Anusara Teacher Training and I am now RYT certified. Sadhana is the term for spiritual practice (it literally means "that which takes you to your goal"). It's not something that you do only 20% of the time...it's something you practice every moment of your life. Sadhana is living, acting and choosing always with your highest goal(s) in your mind and heart. You don't get days off - it just becomes your whole life. And this is what I bring to my students.
In my classes I share insights that I receive from my own dedicated personal practice along with a heart oriented theme. I am dedicated to having my students feel healthier after their practice than ever before. I want them to feel empowered by their own Divine nature and live life to the fullest as a way to show gratitude and honor to God.
